Spring?

Our 2nd home (for one week)
What a mad month it's been. No flooding here but three big storms and two lightening strikes in two weeks, taking out our broadband both times. The first time we also had a week without a boiler, luckily we've still got plenty of wood in store so sat by a warm fire wondering if BT would ever come up with the goods!! The garden is a bit like a sponge, but a couple of dry days have meant Jen could make a start on the veg garden - all planting in the greenhouse for now though.

There are some signs of Spring, a host of Snowdrops and Catkins, birds signing their hearts out, a pond full of randy frogs and a pair of Mallards on the pond (hopefully not eating the frogs).

While January was grey and miserable, we decided to bring the sunshine indoors and spent many unhappy hours scrapping the kitchen ceiling, then Jen disappeared to Norfolk to visit her Mum leaving Paul to sand the exposed wood. We had some uninvited help from the cats who thought chasing flaking paint was a great game! At last it was time to paint and cheer up the room if not the weather. The white and magnolia just couldn't last for ever, not for us.

Last week we escaped the drizzle for blue skies in Gran Canaria, lovely. We stayed in a lovely typical Canarian old house (Casa Rural) and took some fantastic walks in the mountains and parks. You'll be glad to know we did have a couple of wet days, so visited some towns and museums too, it even snowed on our last day - more exciting for the locals than us. We stayed near a charming town called Teror; that's just one 'r' in the middle - although the walk home was even steeper than the hill to Lledgwial. Home from home!
